Lorna Yabsley
Lorna is a multi-disciplinary creative and entrepreneur. She has worked at the ‘high end’ of the photographic industry for over thirty five years. Coming into the photographic industry, from a childhood career in television, she learnt her craft in London, working alongside some of Britain’s masters of photography.
In establishing her own studio, she dispelled the tired and staid image of social photography, pioneered the reportage approach in her bridal work and applied her clean, graphic eye to the commercial field… her unique style has been widely emulated.
Now in her late-fifties, she is evolving as a photographer and maker. Still committed to her photographic work, she is revisiting traditional analogue techniques for fine art photography, and in 2023 will introduce her fine art portraiture service using traditional large format cameras.
In 2020, after studying part time, Lorna graduated with a first class honours degree in 3D Design and Contemporary Craft . The style and discipline she developed over many years in the creative industries, feed directly into her work as an emerging artist.
In addition Lorna has published three photographic books and regularly contributes to the photographic press.
She has recently taken on the role of director for Velarde Gallery, a new and exciting commercial art Gallery and Sculpture Garden in South Devon.
She will be based here as resident artist.
